We got a day bus from Arequipa to Nazca. This was the best bus I had been on since Argentina. We got blankets, pillows, food and there was a film on in english that we watched!
We arrived in Nazca at around 5pm and checked into a hotel which was right opposite the bus station and had a pool. We went in the economy room so it worked out pretty cheap! We then went to book our flight over the Nazca lines for the next day.
The 'Nazca lines' are a series of pictures that have been carved into the rock 100s of years ago. They are 100s of ms across and its not clear how the incas were able to get the lines so straight without having the technology to fly over them! We saw 11 different ones in our flight but there are alot more.
Our plane was tiny as it only held 5 people! Each time we went over a picture the pilot tipped the plane to either side to about a 45* angle so we came off feeling abit sick! It was quite difficult to make out some of the pictures and why they were named certain things like the astronaut and the condor but it was still amazing to see how big they were! The money was my favourite one!
After the flight which was only 30 mins we headed back to our hotel and as it was so hot we spent the rest of the day sunbathing by the pool! It was nice to finally get some hot weather!
