It's me again!!!
And this is a long one!!!!!
Now in country number 3 NEW ZEALAND and so far it hasn't been the best coz the weather is appauling....floods, snow and freezing but never mind it's all part of the experience!!! Anyway arrived in Christchurch on the 16th and spent the night there before hopping on the bus and crossing the country in 6hours to a dead town called Westport. There was hardly anything there and most of it was flooded but stayed in a really cute hostel which was basically a big house bit like Haslemere (for those of you that know what that is!!) very homely. After our night in Westport we headed down the west coast through Greymouth and other towns (avoiding the landslides on the way. Our thrid night was spent again in the middle of know where at this motel where it was just the Kiwi bus passenges stayin there. We had a fancy dress party in the Poo pub. The theme was come as something of the first ltter of your first name (not sure if that makes sense) but I went as a lollipop and Anna went as Ali G....unfortunatley we didn't win. But it's hard to pull a fancy dress costume out of a backpack!!!! After a good night there we jumped back on the bus and went Franz Josef. Arrive there early evening adna gin stayed in a really nice hostel. Had an early night coz the next day we were going for an 8 hour hike up Franz Josef Glacier. What a hike!!!! Up and down crevasses, across ice fields all pretty adventous but we had a good guide and sho te whole day was a good laugh but that evening we were shattered but time in the jacuzzi eased that!!! Spent our second night in Franz and then early the next morning we were off to Wanaka, stopping on the way for a couple of walks, one of which was roung Lake MAtheson which is below MT Cook and gives a really clear reflection...stunning. Arrived in Wanaka at bout 4 and the weather was gorgeous (finally!!). The town is right on a lake and a real alpine town. We had a good night out that night with some others from our bus and decided to stay another night which ment we left our bus and drive Smooch. Spent the day in Wanaka, and it couldn't have been a better day (weather wise) we went for a walk up Mt Iron where the views from the top were remarkable. Also went for a swim in the lake....it was FREEZING but good fun and nice to be able to just jump in some where and not worry bout the stingers and sharks etc!!!!
Hope you are still with me......Left Wanaka this morning and went to Puzzling World where we got lost in a maze for an hour and half before jumping on the bus and going to the original bungy jump bridge. The mad ones on our bus did a bungy (the smallest height you can do only 43m!!) and we all watched. Then arrived here in Queenstown which is said to be the party town of NZ but also one of the wealthiest towns. From what I have seen so far it is a really pretty town, again right on a lake. Not sure what the next few days have in store but I'm sure something quite adventurous!!!!!!
Hope this hasn't bored you too much and filled you in on what I have been up too.
Hope everyone is in good from and missing you lots
Lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
P.S we are over half way thru our trip now :( its going so so quick)
