We got up a bit late again today, were not used to these early starts! I went to sort out breakfast whilst Carm checked us out. We then got on our bus that was taking us to the Mekong Delta. The guys we had met in Siem Reap were on their aswell. They seem to be following us everywhere!
Thankfully we stopped along the way in a place that sold coffee because I had missed my fix from breakfast because we were in such a rush. It was nice and strong J. After leaving there we got on a big boat that took us across the Mekong river. The first stop was on a bee farm. We were given some samples of honey tea and some other stuff which was awful and I don't know what it is. Its apparently good for hangovers though. There was a python there as well though which I held! Its head kept turning around to me though which scared me so I held it pretty far away! Snakes don't feel like you expect them to.
We then walked around to a place where they did live Vietnamese music and gave us free fruit platters and green tea. The music was really good actually it was all girls singing in Vietnamese. Once they had finished we made our way up to some small boats that were taking us down an even smaller river to get to the big boat again. They were so wobbly I thought we were going to fall off a few times. The boat ride was really nice though, we got to wear Vietnamese hats that are like cones and there were all trees hanging over the little river.
Next stop was Unicorn Island. We went to a candy factory there and had some more free samples. Im making the most of these free samples, the trick is to try them all and then leg it! We got to go on a horse and carriage ride here. I felt sorry for the horses though because they looked as though they were really struggling so I was thankful when I finally got off. We got to walk past a few little houses and it was like what I had expected 4000 Islands to be like; completely deserted of tourists and pretty.
When we got back on the boat they took us to the place where we were having lunch. To get there we had to change to another smaller boat and on the way we saw some kids in the trees hanging over the river. Lunch was included in the trip cost but we could pay extra if we wanted to try things like squirrel, crocodile and a few other weird bits. I couldn't afford it but a couple next to me couldn't eat all of their elephant ear fish so let us have some. It was served in spring rolls and was actually really nice as far as fish goes.
That was the end of our one day trip and we were taken back to the city. Our bus out wasn't until 7pm so we had a little time to kill so we went to a place called Yoghurt Space which is awesome. You get a cup and there are different flavours of frozen ice cream that is like ice cream factory style. You put in as many flavours as you want and then choose your toppings from loads of sweets, chocolate, nuts, etc. and sauce. You then pay on how much it weighs. Very tasty!
The bus ride was a short one and I slept a little bit but when the rain came down oh my it came down! There were huge puddles all over the road but the bus driver continued to drive as madly as he did before, overtaking trucks on hills and corners. I was just constantly thinking that if a truck came down the road there was no way it would stop because it would more than likely be driving fast too. I was so thankful when we got there, even though it was 3 in the morning and everywhere was shuttered up. Eventually we found a doorbell and a place to stay.

Gran Good for you... holding the python! This day trip sounded excellent, more like I hoped you'd do. In fact, since arriving in Vietnam you've already done some great sightseeing, which is excellent to read about... and why I've given 5 stars to your blog updates again!
