Weather: a bit cloudy but not raining
Today was the last day of our activities L It was Zip lining for Aimee and me but because Carm doesn't like heights she decided to do quad biking instead. She had to get up and leave a lot earlier than us because it started at 8.30 whereas we got picked up at 12.30.
When they picked us up we went in an actual car! Facing forwards! It was amazing. We felt like we were living in luxury until we pulled up to where the other people in our group were staying…a luxury hotel! It was gorgeous, called Le Meridion which I think is a chain. They were really nice though; American and a bit older than us.
It was just us four in our group and we got to know each other on the ride up there. The drive was worse than the actual activity though I think. It was so hilly and windy so the car struggled to get up the hills and they don't slow down all that much when they go around the corner, just beep to let anyone know that they are coming. We got stuck behind something going up one of the hills and he over took him on a bend! Mental drivers.
When we arrived safely I wanted to kiss the ground. We got all geared up and head to the first point. It was exactly the same as Go Ape really. Aimee didn't like it though she was scared of the heights I think. She got used to the zip wiring in the end but it also had abseiling drops which she didn't like at all.
The course worked its way up to more advanced things. It started with just a wire between 2 trees, which then got higher and then we got to do it so that the harness was clipped on our back so we went along in a super man pose. It was awesome! I was the first to go for that so didn't know what to expect and I screamed my lungs out.
The abseiling drops got higher as we went along as well. They weren't proper abseiling but I don't know what else to call them. We were lowered down by the guides and they could do it as fast as we wanted them too, or they decided to. The last drop was 40m which doesn't sound much but when you look down it is a bit scary. I decided to let them drop me fast since I wanted to get used to things like that ready for my bungee. It wasn't as scary as I thought until I got to the bottom and realised there was a crash mat there in case they drop you.
We walked back up to the top and had food where I really filled myself up. I even took some of the bananas with me in my bag to save money. After the deathly ride back I did my lengths in the pool and then got ready to go out. We didn't end up going out though and just sat with Simon and his new friends who had just shown up really and chatted all night.

Gran Sounds as if you were on a "package" of activities. Right? Yep, there are lots of Meridian hotels around the world; think we've stayed at one somewhere, or maybe dropped someone off at one from the same coach transfer. Heck... it sounds such a dangerous place one way or another. Those Thai drivers for instance. And the zip lining (never heard of that before) is another daredevil thing to do. I see you've developed enough courage to do a bungee now. Will that be in NZ, or before then?
