Place: Koh Tao to Koh Samui
Weather: Sunny, raining!!!! And sunny again with a hint of cloud
Today was an early start to catch a ferry to Koh Samui. It was also the first day I stopped having my leg cleaned! Paul was on the same ferry as us but he was just going back to Koh Phangan. We had to stop off and change ferrys there which we didn't actually know and was a bit of a nightmare but it got sorted.
When we finally got to Koh Samui it was chucking it down and we didn't know where we were going. When we finally found somewhere it was such a relief and we just chilled out in the room for ages getting ready for a night out to lift the mood.
We were getting what I can only describe as a bus/taxi to the main area of the island. You haggle the price like a taxi and just grab one from the side of the road but you share it with loads of other people and they have set places they go to. Because we got there just before a boat load of people arrived we had to wait about half an hour to get going. We had food on a night market next to the taxi to kill the time and you cant complain about a meal for 80p.
Koh Samui was a lot more touristy than other places and actually had things like McDonalds and Starbucks! Our first stop was an Irish bar. Aimee then didn't feel well because of motion sickness so we found her a taxi back and then head out to get a drink. To save money we decided to buy something from 7 Eleven and sit on the beach with it.
To finish the night off we danced for hours in a club called Green Mango which was such good fun and I wore myself out so much I fell asleep in the taxi on the way home; but after I made sure I had one of the best sandwiches I had ever tasted from sandwich man!

Gran Know just what you mean about the bus/taxi. Sampled something like that in Israel, years ago (when I was pregnant with your Mum!). Crumbs... where does McDs NOT get to? Koh Samui sounds to have become a bit TOO "civilised". Are the local food places (like the night market and sandwich man) unlikely to give stomach upsets? They sound great for cheaper food. Oz and NZ will seem terribly expensive after this!
