So it's my last day in Adelaide already. Can't believe how quickly it's gone by. Everything is going really well, it's so relaxed and easing us into city life! The only thing I can complain about is the shocking weather. I swear the sun just doesn't like me since it never seems to be out when I'm around. Since it has been so bad we haven't been on the beach at all which is a shame because it's such a nice one. I wouldn't have been getting in the water though since Carol told us there are actually sharks there so shouldn't go in the deep part!!
On Sunday, once we had got up and recovered from the night before, Danielle, Rachel and I went to the Adelaide Gaol, or gay hole as we call it J. Took the tram to the city centre this time which cost a fortune so won't be doing that again!! Something like $8 I think which is about £5 just for a 30 minute journey. We did take a bit of a complicated route to the Gaol though because it turned out we could have stayed on the tram all the way to just outside the entrance but we didn't realise that until we got there after getting off the tram finding the free bus and then walking for 10minutes! I was already worried about the ghosts there and luckily enough for us on the walk up the track to the prison a man was sat in a car by the road and started screaming as we walked past! Great start to the tour, a crazy person in a car!!!
It was eerie in there though I didn't like it. Loads of people have been executed there and by some sort of law they had to be buried within the walls of the prison. The cells were tiny and we discovered what we thought was an isolation room but it turned out to be a broom cupboard! A lot of people go there at night for ghost tours and there were pictures of eerie things they had seen, one of them especially that you could definitely see a face in. The hanging tower was strange. It's hard to believe that so many people had actually died in there. The worst part had to be the new block though it just gave me such a creepy feeling, probably because the people that worked there had just told us this is the place that you are most likely to have something weird happen. He said that a lot of people saw a figure move across the top corner of the balcony so I made sure I didn't look up there!! Apparently a lot of peoples' cameras have stopped working for no reason when in there.Rachel was going round taking as many random pictures as she could just trying to catch a ghost! I was just relieved when we got out of there! Later on though we looked through her camera and in the top corner, where people are meant to have seen a figure, we could have sworn there was something in her picture, but that could have been something to do with the alcohol we had drank because we can't see it at all anymore!
Went out again that night, even though it was Sunday it was meant to be a great night at the grand! We bought a bottle of $5.95 champagne from the liqueur store which is about £4 tops and it still tasted great J Sam came out with us this time as well, a girl who used to stay at the hostel but has moved somewhere now but she works in Adelaide. The Grand had a huge queue which is normally a good sign but when it hardly moves for a few hours it's pretty frustrating! We did a little tactical thinking and spotted some lads from our hostel further up in the queue so introduced ourselves to them. We then pushed it a little further and found a group of Australian lads to join even further up! We still didn't get in until about 12ish though. Great night out, dancing constantly like usual, some lads being annoying…the usual! I was saved by one lad when a black lad just wouldn't leave me alone. He came and stood next to me whilst the black lad was pestering and we managed to convince him that he was my boyfriend. He turned out to be a super Gaz look alike and acted so much like him too!Freaky stuff!
On Monday we were planning on going to the chocolate factory but couldn't get Sam and Rachel on our tour so we cancelled and decided to have a chilled day with everyone at the hostel. We ended up going to The Dublin for a drink on the balcony even though it was absolutely freezing up there! I have decided to buy a hoody if it's going to carry on being this cold. We came back to the hostel after that and just sat outside having a chat and a drink.
Woke up today with my mum ringing me!! For some reason I thought it was about 9.30 in the morning but then realised it was 9.30 at night so shot up and got dressed quickly so I could go to McDonalds to talk to my mum since I hadn't spoken to her yesterday. Its actually alright weather today I'm wearing shorts and not shivering its lovely!! We've done the first load of washing so I'm all sorted and ready for the next step! I'm so looking forward to tomorrow but not the 4.45am start! Still I'll be walking in the national park and going along the great ocean road. But today were off to the Zoo to see Kangaroos and Koalas and even a cow!! How exotic! So I'll update you when I've seen all the animals J byee xx
