Date: 21st August 2011
Place: Kakadu National Park
Weather: Sunny and hot
We had to get up even earlier today. We had to make a packed lunch for ourselves as well which I decided to make the most of and made myself some sandwiches for the next couple of days since I have run out of money for food. Craig laughed at this and started packing up all the food for me in the bread bags. I got all the leftover Kangaroo and Buffalo Sausages as well as open tins of tuna and beetroot "/.
It was 4 wheel drive action today!! First stop Twin Falls. We had to get a boat down the creek because there are crocodiles in there. It was really nice there with big sandstone walls up either side. Apparently the bottom of the creek used to be the sea bed and you can see the ripples in the stone. We had to walk over a few boulders to get to the beach area under the waterfalls but that was good fun.
The water looked soo inviting! But I didn't want to get too close in case a croc came jumping out. Apparently you used to be able to climb through the rocks and down the waterfall but a girl fell and died so now you cant which sucks!
Our last stop of the trip was Jim Jim falls which is absolutely stunning. It was a good 45 minute walk jumping over boulders and going under trees and things. Great fun! We took our packed lunch with us and I ate mine on a big flat boulder under the sun when we got to the falls. I could hear everyone moaning as they got into the water about how cold it was. I was definitely going in still though.
IT WAS FREEZING! I swam on the spot for ages to warm myself up but it never completely worked. I was a bit worried because this was a really deep pool, like 30 metres or so deep, and there were warning signs about crocs being in the waters around there so I didn't like it! I cant understand how they would get in though since it is surrounded by a big wall where the waterfall is and then boulders all at the other side. You never know if there is cave underneath though that comes out somewhere else.
We swam all the way over to the waterfall which was actually quite a swim! It was funny underneath it because it seemed like someone was turning a shower on and off because sometimes it was really heavy and they sometimes it just stopped. On the way back we went under a little cave which was nice but only for a short amount of time; I wanted to get out of there!
I was pretty upset to be leaving because that was my last place to see on the trip really. We had a good fast walk back though jumping all over the rocks which was good exercise too for once J. We had to start the journey back to Darwin now though because it takes about 5-6 hours.
When we got back everyone checked into their hostel and they let me take my stuff up to theirs to sort out and have a shower before my flight. I had a lot of time to kill though and thankfully the market was on that night again so we took the long walk down there for a bit. It wasn't as good as the Sunday one though and I was just getting jealous of all the food because I couldn't have it!
I managed to cut my time down to wait to about 2 hours. Romy and Sophie had text me to say they hadn't found the guys whilst I was away and that they had asked behind reception again and nothing had shown up. I was pretty annoyed but atleast it was basically dead anyway so I would have needed to get a new one at some point anyway. I wanted to say goodbye to them but I had no way of getting hold of them because I have never had credit on my phone.
For the rest of the night I sat with Wolly downstairs showing him some good places to go to in Asia. My shuttle didn't show up until 12 and he stayed up the whole time with me bless him. Even though he had to be up at 5 for another trip!
When it finally came I started talking to an Aussie guy on there. He was complaining about how cold it was on the bus and said I should be used to it because Im British. I was like nooooo not after how long Ive been in the sun for now.
I cant remember much of the trip through the airport because I was soooo tired. I couldn't wait to get onto the plane and be able to sleep. I had been majorly envious of Petra who had been all wrapped up in her bed when I went in to get my bag. I had a window seat thankfully so pretty much as soon as I got on the plane I crashed out and was asleep for nearly the whole flight J.

Gran Bit of a risk packing food for 2 days in NT heat! A very memorable, but exhausting, last day... a bit hard to grasp that the Big Adventure was virtually over.
