We only had time to spend a night at Port st johns as our time in South Africa was rapidly coming to its end. Port St Johns was a bustling coastal village lying below the dramatic cliffs called the gates. The town had a vibrant African atmosphere - Emma and i were the only white people there, which was cool in a strange kinda way! Street stalls selling fruit, veg and other local produce lined the streets. We were expecting the Baz Bus to pick us up at 4.30 to arrive in Umzumbe for 9pm. The bus still hadn’t arrived by 6pm as they had a bad road accident involving a little boy :-(. The owners of the hostel had to cramp 6 of us into a uwt for over an hours drive back to Umtata where the accident was. We met the Baz Bus and after a long and tiring drive we finally arrived in Umzumbe at 2am :-(.
