Evening all,
Here is yet another addition to our blogs all the way from a chilly Te Anau this Friday evening, though I've only got 6mins so it's gonna be brief and lacking the usual whitty humour I often supply...sorry. We've been very busy recently travelling all the way down to pretty much the bottom of the world. So we left Taupo after our skiydive and headed down to Wellington, NZ's capital city, where it rained pretty much the whole three days! Although it looked like it had potential but unfortunately we didn't see it! I spent most of the time in the gym and even dragged lucy along for a sess! We went to the national museum, 'Te Papa' which is Maori, they do love using Maori sayings over here to make everything sound a touch more cultural and rode the cable car to the top of the city.
Then on the Thursday we jumped the InterIslander ferry to Picton on the South Island and jumped on our Magic Bus to Nelson, the sunshine capital of NZ! We stayed in one of the best hostels but as it rained for two days we didn't do much except go the cinema to see the Hangover which is hilirious and sort out Hawaii on the internet. Then we left Nelson and headed to Greymouth which is pretty much crap except it has a nice little brewery where you get to sample all their beers as many times as you want within about half an hour for $25 which was great with a sort of half arsed bbq thrown in after too, which consisted of only sausages which lucy doesnt even eat so she pretty much starved that night. Then we watched the All Blacks get beat by France in the rugby which over here is pretty much greeted like the death of a loved one.
Anyway after Greymouth is where the fun really got started, if white water rafting and skydiving were not enough! So we headed on our Magic Bus to the little hamlet of Franz Josef which is basically a place to rest your head after tackling the Franz Josef Glacier! We did the full day, 8hr hike! As you can imagine I was fine but Lucy's fitness levels aren't perhaps what they should be and she was knackered by the end though she made it through! The views were amazing and all the blue ice and caves etc were all fun, the photos really don't do justice to what the eye could see.
After Franz we headed to Queenstown which right now is pretty much my favourite town in the world! Anything you want to do you can do in Queenstown, although it's renowned as the adrenaline sports world capital! So i signed up for the 134metre Nevis Bungy...it was outrageous! Check out the video on my facebook and the photos on here! And we also had a Fergburger...possibly the world's biggest and tastiest burger! Next week we're going to do abit of skiing or snow boarding! It's also pretty much the most beautiful town you've ever seen, as is most of the South Island from Franz Josef down.
Today we hired a car from Queenstown and headed to Milford Sound, it was the most amazing drive I've ever done and the views were outrageous. Milford itself is exceptional and it's not hard to see why it's a World Heritage listed area. Again the photos don't do it justice but together with the views we had dolphins conme and jump along side the boat which got Lucy very excited! So now we're in Te Anau YHA haing a booming Friday night with all our foreign friends who like to read and sit by fires...wo hoooo! Tomorrow morning we head back to Queenstown for abit of fun and head out to watch the All Blacks versus France again! Next Thursday we leave for Dunedin and in two weeks we'll be in Hawaii...Friday 3rd July just in time for Independance Day!
Anyway have a fun Friday...we did xxx
