Evening folks,
Welcome to the final addition of our blogs from NZ! It's Wednesday and we just flew up from Christchurch to Auckland this morning, we're off on a ferry ride tomorrow and then that's it and we're off to Hawaii...come on!
Anyway since Te Anau we've been skiing and not much else actually! Skiing was class, check out the videos, we're both pretty handy considering we've never done it before. I loved the speed and lucy loved being a slow coach but each to their own...she never fell over as much as me.
Queenstown was just epic...one of the best places in the world, there was hardly anybody over 25 and everybody seemed to be just there to have a good time plus without sounding gay it's amazingly beautiful and there's loads of things to do. So if you ever come to NZ you've got to go there.
After skiing we've pretty much spent the rest of the time trying to sort out Hawaii... because Americans are pretty much the most retarded race in the world it's taken ages. Backpackers just don't seemed to exist over there and if they do then well they sort of occupy the postion of crash pads for anybody including all the hobo's who'd happily rob all our stuff so after nealry 6 months of not losing a thing we've decided not to go down that route. So then we've been emailing trying to find the cheapest accomodation which seem to be condo's! They're advertised at like $60 per night but then you have to add one about three taxes and a cleaning fee, so you never get an honest price out of them. One woman has been really rude becasue we haven't paid her after enquirng about her condo. I was like "erm love we're paying you so you can send your kids to college not the other way round"...not that i said that because she'd probably sabotage my credit card but you know what i mean. Loads of people have been rude to me recently actually...but thats another story.
Anyway we left Queenstown and headed to Dunedin which was ok, it's got a cadbury's factory and a brewery but cadbury's tastes crap over here and the beer from the brewery is rubbish too so we skipped that. Next day we headed to Lake Tekapo which i thought was going to be amazing with all amazing scenary and these hot pools that over look the snow mountains...but the bloody Magic Bus broke down so we didn;t arrive untill after dark so saw nothing and left the next day...and the hot pools were just like an open air swimming pool with really hot water...fradudsters! Google 'Lake Tekapo Alpine spa and hot pools'...then look at our photos taken in the swimming pool. Compare and contrast! Then to top it off I was turned down for a beer because I didn't have my passport and she wouldn't accept my driving licence and the fact that Im not 17...what's with that? Plus Lake Tekapo has a population of about 50 people...who did she think was gonna raid the place? Plus the fact im actually 23 and have a belly that suggests ive been drinking beer for years...oh and also who the hell would take their passport to a bloody Apline Spa and Hot Pools?? Pathetic!
Then it was on to Christchurch, the fact that there a no photos of Christchurch probably says all you need to know about that. Then Kaikoura which I can imagine would be nice in summer but it was just grey and cloudy while we were there so...
Anyway we got the train back to Christchurch and flew out asap. So basically the morale of that tale is Queenstown is insane...the rest is pretty average to poor! Erm so now it's Auckland again and it's nice to be back in the warmth...it's like 16 degrees here today and sunny...been getting abit sweaty walking round and ive also bought the coolest sunglasses in the world for $10...bargain! Friday we fly to Hawaii via Sydney although unfortunately we can't get off at our favourite city.
So that's the end of our adventure's Down Under, bit sad really but hey ho. In abit kids xxx
