I'm at Auckland airport, waiting for my flight to Perth. It's going to be 7.5 hours without any food, because I'm tight and didn't want to pay extra for plane meals. I think I can purchase food on board if I want to, although at their prices that may require an extra overdraft! I've got some crisps and sultanas so hopefully I'll be ok.
This airport actually has a nice view, of the sea and hills. Auckland is pretty hilly, being made up of a series of dormant volcanoes. The weather has been very changeable, with bright sunshine one minute and rain the next. There are lots of lion's mane jellyfish in the harbour, mostly really small but a few bigger ones. I found out what type they are by Googling them and there was a recent news story about a swimming club who said they had never seen so many jellyfish there and they were swimming elsewhere because they kept getting stung. I also saw a big stingray swimming close to the edge of the harbour.
I'm off to Perth, where all the wildlife is potentially fatal. I've never been there before. Apart from the snakes, spiders etc, I'm looking forward to it.
