Hoi An
Ok, so I haven't been very well of late and the blog has suffered as a result. I will do my best to try and get things back on track, but I apologise if it is very brief and remains a tad behind.
Hoi An is a lovely little town a few Km from the coast. The place has lots of old French style buildings that seemed to have avoided destruction in the wars and most of them are now tailor shops! The town has more than 200 tailors and tourists flock here to have a tailor-made suit or dress for a bargain price. Many of the people I was traveling with took advantage of the opportunity, but I decided against. I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to buying a suit and, once you ship it home, it still works out quite expensive on a traveler's budget. Instead I spent my time relaxing in the cosy riverfront bars and restaurants or browsing the colourful local market.
Unfortunately, the weather was starting to turn. The long sunny days seemed to have gone and each day brought at least some rain, normally in short heavy bursts. When we had a better looking day I hired a bicycle and rode the 5k to the beach. I was rather disappointed to find it monopolised by resorts and actually really really windy. Nevertheless, the exercise felt good!
After a few days I decided to move on and secured my place on another so called 'sleeper' bus.
