Nha Trang
Happily I had found myself sharing the bus with an English couple with whom I shared the last one. This meant I had some company and helped in terms of finding somewhere to stay. The rain was pouring down when we arrived and only stopped once we had actually found a hotel (typical). We went out for a wander along the sea front of the beach resort town and the rain attacked again. By the time we returned for lunch we were soaked.
I quickly discovered that a town with a long beach as it's highlight can be rather dull when the sun does not want to play out. Day 2 was at least dry, so I took the opportunity to jump on the back of a motorbike and have a bit of a tour of the surrounding countryside. It was a bit of a spontaneous decision, but it turned out to be a good one. My guide, 'Truong', was very friendly and cheerful and took me to visit his house after the local temples (see pic). I met his sisters and tried my hand and making a mat with a sort of loom. I was rubbish, but it was fun. We returned to the town via some lovely scenic parts.
Later that evening I bumped into the group that I had been with in Hue and Hoi An. They were making full use of the hideously noisy tourist bars and, after joining them for a few, I decided I would make a quick getaway the next day and booked my bus to Dalat! This would turn out to be a very very good decision!
