Well yesterday the day started quite badly - we woke up at 6am to get on the bus by 7, however at 8 we were still waiting for it to show up. Eventually we were told it had broken down and we had to wait for a hire coach to arrive - 3 hours. Once we got on the road though we started having a ball. There are 54 people altogether. Our tour manager, Jon, went through all the rules for about an hour and I broke the first one (only use the bathroom on the coach in emergencies) well I was busting for the loo and couldnt wait an hour so I had to get permission to go. After I went everyone else got the guts to go too. Ooops. Once we got into San Diego we were dropped off at the shopping mall where we went shopping. It was great, in the Gas lamp district which is really cool. I bought some sandels and a Christian Audiger (however its spelt i dont know) top. I have now banned myself from shopping, I am not allowed to buy anything else. Then we went on a harbour cruise around the bay, which is nice but just has nothing on Sydney harbour. We saw lots of Navy ships which are massive, with planes on them. The weather is absolutely beautiful here in San Diego. After the cruise we got checked into the hotel and changed for our included dinner at d*** Last resort. It is so hard to explain this place, it was crazy! The waiters are meant to be extremely rude to the patrons, including throwing menus at us, throwing balled up napkins, shouting at us, yelling at us to hurry the hell up with our decisions and making us wear big hats with comments on them. It was sooooo much fun. About 20 of the contiki's went on to a bar after while the others went back to the hotel. We all took over this bar where we were drinking and dancing and taking heaps of photos. I was teaching the bar guy new shots that he'd never heard of (QF, jam donut and wet p**** which he made about 10 of at a time for us all to skull. They were in seven ounce glasses not shot glasses! Of course we were all quite pissy. Everyone got to know each other really quickly cos we were all having such a good time. My little belgium friend is sooo funny, she is a crack up. She has already hooked up with the tour manager, and it is really funny trying to explain what things we say mean and her reaction in the restaurant was classic as we couldnt tell her why we were getting things thrown at us etc as she didnt understand our words. So she was sitting there looking all bewildered and no one could tell her what was going on. Haha. We met alot of locals while there, they were nice people and thought we were all crazy and fun. At about 2am we caught a cab to the hotel, the cab driver looked like a gangster and cos we were drunk we were talking to him like "yo we need to go to this hotel, know what Im saying ya'll" etc, he laughed along until I let slip "thanks nigga" I cant believe I did that! I tipped him extra well to make up for it. I didnt mean to be rude was just saying all the things gangsters say. We got out of that cab pretty quickly. I think he took it in good fun though. I hope. Today we woke up feeling very dodgy (no drinking for me tonight!) and attempted to eat breakfast and then got on the coach to go to the Zoo. Had a good day looking at all the animals. The bears were awesome, no cage just a moat thing that they cant get over. The grizzly was trying to climb up but its impossible. So cure though. Loved the orangutans they were putting on shows for us, playing and wrestling and holding hands. So cute. Im a little burnt from today even with sunscreen on. Then we went back to the hotel. Tonight we are going to pacific beach or mission beach (baywatch filming place!) for dinner, and tomorrow we leave for Pheonix Arizona. San Diego was fun, its a great city, would love to stay longer. Looking forward to all the other places though. I'll write again at the next net cafe!
