Last night we had a dinner out at a pizza place in San Diego's Pacific Beach. It is really nice there, there was a nice ocean breeze at night. The food was pretty good, serving sizes massive as usual. This morning after pancakes for breakfast (I am going to be so fat by the end of this!) we got on the coach to get to Arizona. We got to Pheonix at around 330pm and left San Diego at 8am so we drove most of the day, however we had two rest stops along the way. At the first one we were all so excited as there was a health shop so we all bought fresh ham and turkey deli meats and fresh (still warm) bread rolls, avocado and fresh fruit which we haven't been able to find until now. We watched Anchor Man (set in San Diego) and Super Bad (set in Arizona) which helped pass the time. We will continue to watch films from whichever location we are travelling to and from all trip. We were also made to 'speed date' so we had to rotate in a circle every 5 minutes, so one person would move back so that we could talk to everybody. That was good as there were so many people that we hadn't talked to yet and it was a good icebreaker. Emma and Stacey will know all about the speed dating 'way' so they will know what I'm trying to describe. There are a few varieties of nationalities on the tour. Probably 60 % aussies and a few Kiwis, germans, the belgium girl, some brazillions, a korean and a few pommies. And mum there are guys on the tour but they are nearly all here with wives/girl friends which sucks! Its definatly a chick bus so guys would love a contiki! Driving through Arizona was so cool with the desert sand in parts, huge rock formations (boulders that may fall at any time and crush us Indiana Jones style) and cactuses everywhere. When we got to the hotel we pretty much got changed and ready to go out. Pheonix is beautiful, but very very hot. It was 110 F today which I think is about 45 celcius. An oven basically. It was a very dry heat though so more bearable than 45 degrees at home. I am still not brown or burnt, very surprised! We went to such a cool restaurant for dinner, it was called 'My Big Fat Greek Restaurant', the service was so good, they did all greek stuff for us. The servings were MASSIVE. You will see when I put the photos up how big they were. I took a before and after shot and it looks like I didnt even touch it but I was stuffed. I got gyros (lamb and beef sliced off the bone) it came with rice potatoes and VEGETABLES. My first veges since leaving oz, and I ate those first and then was too full to eat much more. Then the guy came out with free ouzo shots for us all so we had a few of those along with some raspberry mojitos which were beautiful. Then we went shopping (again, these girls are bad bad bad influences!) and I bought a book for the coach, an on sale necklace and a cardi thing. I need to stop!!!! It was such a cool shop though, we spent so long in there. Then we called the hotel to pick us up and came back here to sleep as we are hot air ballooning in the morning. We have to be on the coach by 445am. 4:45 AM! crazy! It sounds good, looking over the desert at sunrise followed by a french breakfast with champagne. French toast and croissants with strawberries mmmmm sounds so good. I cant sleep so came on here to pass the time. So the trip is going really well, having a fantastic time. I am missing home a bit, especcially family and friends but we are so busy that it prevents me from getting sad! It is such a fast paced tour, constantly go go go, not really any down time so Im sure by the time I get to Venice beach I will need to spend a few days on the beach chilling out. Thanks for writing on my message board, I get excited when I log on hoping people have written to me! When you are away from home it is really good to hear from loved ones. So keep that up please :) Well I'll write more later, will be able to tell you all about the ballooning, the red rock jeep rides and the Grand Canyon, all of which we do tomorrow! I hope the Canyon has internet cos we are there 2 nights. Bye!
