Hard to believe how fast it has gone, but today is our last day in England. So a bit sad going around saying goodbye to everyone, knowing it will be a long time before we see them again. It is a proper wet day so fits the mood! We managed to squeeze in a shop at the giant toys r us store, to spend the carefully saved British pounds, a trip to an ole English sweet shoppe, a walk in the woods, a visit to the Lovewell family graves, and watching some British telly. ...

We are all feeling pretty worn out and unwell... Need this trip to come to an end so we can get a rest! So today we had a quiet morning, explored the grounds of Whiteholme and had a lovely lunch at home before we headed off for our second trip up to London, to see the other end of the city and take in a west end show. There were a series of unfortunate events as we tried to get up there: sick kids, altered train routes, one car exceeding emission rules, the other...

Today we went to Stonehenge! It took us ages to get there, but it was worth it. We got a shuttle up from the visitor centre, and then we saw the stones... Terrific, towering, tremendous stones the largest as big as 3 Dads. I got a photo where I looked like I was holding up a stone. It is amazing how old they are - 3000 bc. We came up with some of our own explanations about why the stones were placed: 1. They were used as a signal at the winter and summer solstice...

Today we ventured into the RAF Museum near London... One of the items on Gemma's wish list. It is a huge museum across four hangars, with more than 100 planes. The display is very well laid out, with a lot of information displayed in many different ways, so it held the interest of all parties. A day staying local today to give the kids a chance to catch up with themselves. They had a sleep in to almost 7am! After a leisurely breakfast we headed up to the common for the equivalent of backyard cricket...it's too boggy to play in the backyard at present, and even the common is muddy, so gumboots (wellies) are the footwear of choice.
