Today a 7am start to get to the beach on the Amalfi coast called Positano, the research said it was one of the beaches that has the sun for the longest period in the day because many loose sun early afternoon due to the high cliffs surrounding them. An hour and 6 mins drive to do 23 km meant the roads are windy and steep so 30km speed limit on most of the journey. To be fair it wasn't too bad because of our early start so less traffic on the mountain roads. Some stop offs to take some scenery photos and we arrived. Driving the Amalfi coast road was amazing... Roof down, wide enough and fun in the car, I was Jeremy Clarkson!!! We parked at the top of Positano and bought water from a local shop to get change for the meter... I overheard the person in front get bus tickets so I enquired and for 2€ each we could get a local circular bus to the beach and back... Bonus because the beach is a mile from the car and although we aren't afraid of a trek it is down hill and obviously would be uphill in 36 degree heat. We get off the bus when the driver shouted 'Spaggio' and a short wander through the lanes of shops we arrived, the views amazing and the sea so inviting. We left the camera in the car not because we forgot it but we wanted minimum amount of valuables with us!!! But Sarah did note that where we were parked to drive out we would have to come down to go back out as it was one way.... So photos were taken at the end of the day!!! We rented our sunbeds and settled in for the day. Absolutely lush .... The sea was one bed in front of us (there were some 20 or so rows in some areas!) so we were very lucky. When we felt beads of sweat we would enter the sea.... Crystal clear waters and soooo warm. Such a lovely day. With lunch enjoyed at one of the seafront restaurants. And views of boats at sea and plenty of people watching.
We got back to the car and true to Sarah's thoughts we had to drive down to come back up but that was fun and allowed us to get some pics!!! On returning back we realised that we had nothing in for dinner and it was a Sunday but we ventured around our little village in the mountain to hunt something out. The only place we found open was a bar, so tonight we feasted on red wine for Sarah, Nastro Azzurro for me and a variety of snacks!!! Did the job!!! Hic.... Night!!!
