Today was my last day in Canada. I was up and out bright and breezy, and headed outside the city walls to meet my bike tour.
I got there easily enough, with the help of a hugggge map. Once there I got to know my fellow biker people - mostly from LA, but one German. Nice bunch. My guide was called Ghee - thought that was funny.
We set off on our bikes towards Mont(something) falls - a waterfall 8 miles outside of Quebec City, and 30m taller than Niagara too apparently. Loved the bike ride - have missed strenuous exercise so it was great to feel the wind in my hair.
The falls were gorgeous. We went to the top in a cable car, crossed the bridges, did a little bit of a hike, then climbed down the stairs to the foot of the falls. The cycling was 16 miles in total and took nearly four hours.
After dropping the bike off, I went back into Old Quebec and booked myself onto an old town walking tour. I had a bit of time before it started so I went to a lovely little French bistro and had traditional (and posh) poutine - guinea fowl poutine. Was delicious. Then I treated myself to a New York Cheesecake.
I had a wonder around and then went to meet my tour. Funnily enough the same people who were on my bike tour were also on the walking tour. The tour lasted three hours. But Quebec City, both in and outside the walls is gorgeous. Lots of English and French influence.
The tour ended at 6, and I (struggled to) find a cab, and got back to the hostel. Absolutely dead best I scoffed some crisps, had a shower and have dived into bed (at 8pm). But it's been an awesome day. Now I'm going to try and get some sleep as my head is pounding and we have to be up at 2am for our flight to Boston!
