Hello!!! from a very rainy Cameron Highlands!!!
Thought it was about time we updated this as this has been the first chance we have had. most of the places we have been staying the internet access has not been great.
We are currently in the middle of a tour with GAP adventures, we met our group on the 19th November in Bangkok and have made some fantastic friends!!! there is about 14 of us from all over the world, which makes conversations intersting....... especially when the drinks start to flow!
We headed down to Ao Nang in Krabi on the night train...... as you can see from the photos...very interesting sleeping arrangements! and to top it off we had a bit of a crazy guy on the train who wanted to stab the driver as he thought someone was stealing his stuff......... and the best part was was Scottish!!!!!!
But we have a great tour leader called AJ...... no one would want to mess with him!!
Krabi, (Ao Nang) was lovely... nice beaches...saw the beach were the "Beach" was filmed.....but it has turned a bit touristy now...so prob not as good as it may have been.
Done a bit of snorkelling, Kayaking and took a speed boat round the little islands..... although photos don't do it justice!
We then took a mini van down to Malaysia, our first stop was Penang as you can see from the photos, not much to talk about here, done a tour of the island, we were only really there for one full day, took a cable car to the highest point on the island called "Penang Hill" another great view!
So we are now in the Cameron Highlands.....feels like we are back home in Scotland!!! went for dinner last night had a meal called a "Steamaboat" (there is a large bowl heating over a gas stove on your table, you then get given noodles, eggs, chicken, beef, tofu, prawns, fish, vegetables to cook yourself........) It is the speciality dish here....... was very interesting!! but we were all okay this morning, so must have been alright.
Just back from a tour round the highlands..... views are amazing, visited the highest point on the island which is 6,666ft above sea level, and went to a tea plantation factory to visit the fields where it grows and the factory where they make various kinds, Iain was very pleased he was able to have a cup of decent tea with a scone and jam!!!!
The past few days we have been in very quiet local areas, with mixed religion... Muslim, Bhuddist, Christian, Thai, Chiinese and Indian.
We are off to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow morning at 8.30...Public bus!!! should be interseting, at least we get there around 1ish so can get time to look around, we are there for 2 days then off to Melaka, then Singapore.
Think the rain has finally stopped... Probably a good time to run back to the hotel before it starts again!!! have been wearng a vest and shorts for the last three weeks, and today i am wearing long trousers, a vest and hoodie!!!!!
Roll on Tomorrow ha ha ha !!!
Take care,
Lou & Iain
