I think the reason people say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas is because after leaving it you really can't remember what happened. I don't know whether it was a mixture of the lights, alcohol, gaming machines ringing in our ears or the overall sleaze factor of this city but something or all of it really does make you lose your mind.
It is the one place in the world that I can say what you see on T.V is what you see in Vegas...a completly over lite street filled with weird and wonderful people from all corners of the globe. The Paris Casino makes you feel like you are outside on a sunny day with it's painted on clouds and sun, New York is filled with...you guessed it everything that makes New York famous and so the patterns continue. Everyone here has money to spend and people at each Casino more than willing to take it.
We did escape the Las Vegas blur for a day to bus it out to The Grand Canyon, which yes is a big hole in the ground...not much more. However I was impressed with the Hoover Dam and the Arizona scenery that I witnessed as we drove down dusty and hot roads, including a section of the famous Route 66, which we are destined to encounter many times again on this trip. The colours that make up the Grand Canyon are amazing and in a way I can see why it attracts a crowd but unless you are an avid track walker there really is not much to do other than pull up a rock and stare out into the huge open hole.
