We walked home the long way today as we took an extensive foot-tour around some of Dubrovnik's more natural settings. Our walk followed the jagged coast along an area called Lapad, which is on a peninsula that is connected with a section of the city called Babin kuk. While this area is filled with scenes of natural beauty, much of it is occupied by ritzy hotels and resorts. Go figure. Another travel day today as we left Hvar by ferry before continuing on to Dubrovnik by bus, a long and windy trip that took us through some amazing scenery. A funny moment today when we (unexpectedly) passed through Bosnia-Herzegovina on our drive. The driver announced "passport control", while ours were safely stowed underneath the bus in our packs. A very blustery day here in Hvar today, but the sun still packed enough of a punch to allow for a refreshing afternoon swim. We walked along a winding coastal road for about three kilometers before arriving at a secluded cove at the end of the line. After our dip, we returned to town to catch the sunset views from Tvrdava Spanjola, a fortress that sits perched above the old town with great panoramic views of the town and the surrounding islands.

On the road again today, catching a bus from Sibenik to Split, and from there a ferry to the Island of Hvar. Croatia has over a thousand islands that dot the Dalmatian coast, so we figured that we should visit at least one of them. Like many places along the coast, Hvar City is a tight cluster of houses and buildings nestled into the rocky hill-side that surrounds the harbour. Very much looking forward to exploring it all tomorrow!

Kornati National Park. Yet again, another Croatian treasure. Accessible only by boat, today's excursion began on Ben Druhan time, with a bus departing at 5:45 am. The jump-start was well worth it as we were on a boat at 9 o'clock until after 6 pm this evening. The cruise took us around the Kornati archipelago, with an afternoon break for a delicious on-board lunch and a swim in the Adriatic. Needless to say, today was sun-soaked and very relaxing.
