Yesterday we woke up excited to be meeting Kelly and Stacey, Sarah had received a text for the duo saying they needed to catch some z's after arriving early and not being able to sleep much on the plane, so we decided to have a lazy breakfast and morning.
We left the hostel to return to the photo-developing shop to retrieve Laura's memory card that she forgot to pick up with the DVD's. After deleting a load of Sarah's photos, on her camera, it was time to meet Kel and Stace, we thought we might be late, but it turned out that they kept us waiting 50 minutes, after having gone down the wrong street to meet us! Muppets! Once we finally met them, we were starving and headed straight to Scruffy Murphy's for some grub (Surf N Turf for Lou, Chicken Schnitzel for Sarah (simply because she likes saying schnitzel!)). After filling our stomachs, we headed to Kel and Stace's hotel/ travel lodge for Laura to straighten her hair for the first time in over 8 weeks! You won't believe how happy it made her! ...Until we got outside and it was SPITTING!! From here we headed straight to Mrs Macaquires Chair where we had found out that GMTV were there filming 5.25pm-7.30pm (6.25am-8.30am Brit time) to try and get on tellie! In short, Sarah got on a few times (probably looking like a right idiot!), but Lou, Kel and Stace didn't seem too bothered! Sarah was about to say her original Christmas message of "Merry Christmas, Mum!!" but a big gob girl got in before her, which was probably a good thing as her message would have, more than likely, come out as "Merfulfrishinagha!" - really! After a group singing of "Jingle Bells" (which we think may have tipped Stacey over the edge!) at about 7.10pm, we headed back to our hostel, where we had a treat instore for Kel and Stace - a box of wine, Tim Tams, a bar of Cadbury 'Snack' and 'Cabury Dessert - Fudge Brownie, which was of course for us all to enjoy sharing together! We enjoyed chats over coffee and some treats (deciding to save the wine for tomorrow night, after our bridge climb to celebrate Stacey passing her final accountants exams) before retiring for an early-ish night.
This morning we were up and downstairs, waiting for Kel and Stace, by 10.30am. They joined us about 10.45am (checked out of their travel lodge and moved to the hostel down the road from us) and we made them an amazing breakfast of toast and butter, we know how to treat our guests, no expense spared! After Laura straightened her hair, we headed straight down to the Oz Experience office to book our Blue Mountains trip, for Christmas Eve (Sunday). Then it was a powerwalk to the Sydney Harbour Bridge for our climb! We got there with 5 minutes to spare and went through all the necessary safety procedures and form-filling-ins before heading out onto the lower level of the bridge in our gorgeous grey jump suits! We were attached onto a safety rail at all times, so Laura wasn't too much of a whimp! Kelly did get a bit scared when we head to head out on the 'temporary platform' to by-pass the bridge maintenance (wuss! - love ya really, Kel!). Our instructor/guide/photographer, Matt, was fab and informative and before we knew it we were at the summit, posing for photographs and enjoying the magnificent, breath-taking, awe-inspiring views (get us with our descriptive words!), which we enjoyed, open-mouthed, as we trekked up, sweating everso slightly! Laura's 'worse moment' came on the way down, it was climbing down the lander-type steps backwards that did it for her (- you could see right through them to the road and sea below (!), as you could on some of the platforms), as she was forced to look down to check where her feet were going! Meanwhile, Sarah heard a slight rumble (no! - not that sort of rumble!!) and woosh! - A train raced straight passed her head, inches away, on one of the tracks that we were sandwiched between! Never been quite THAT close to a moving train! After climbing back into our civie clothes, filling out a feedback form and grabbing a load of souvenir pics (group one complimentary) we headed back to our hostel, via photo developing shop (for Sarah's camera this time), Maccies and Krispy Kreme, to get ready for a night of girlie fun, at Hard Rock Cafe and some cocktails!
