Howdy,
It's Friday arvo at work, and I've got bored of actually doing work now, so I thought I'd write a quick blog.
I finish working at Pearl Aviation next Friday - got a new girl to train next week - joy. Means I can't sit on the internet and do not a lot all day, I have to actually do some work and create things for us to do!
Did my last check-in shift yesterday, so no more rubbish early mornings for me! Pretty good though, as by the time I get my last pay check in a couple of weeks time, I'll have saved $5000 to travel the west coast with. Just bought a car - and a few weeks ago I bought my camera - so spent nearly $2000 on those, so I've done pretty well on my saving I think! The check-in shifts helped a lot, I think I got about $1500 off that alone.
Anyway, yep I leave work next Friday. My car should be registered and roadworthy by Monday or Tuesday, so I've got a week or so to drive it around here and get used to it before I leave. Heading down central Oz to Melbourne again, thinking of leaving Darwin on the 16th so will hopefully be down there by about the 22nd. Might stop at Ayers rock again, as I didn't spend as long there as I wanted to the last time I was there! It depends who I give a lift to and what they want to do as well really. I'm picking Danni up in Melbourne around the 25th, for us to travel up the West Coast together. She's a girl I worked in Tassie with last year, when I did some work on the farms down there - from the UK too, she went to Birmingham uni and is over here for 2 years as well.
Going to catch up with Jason and Matt when I'm down in Melbourne too - go fishing and stuff, and as we're going to drive down the Great Ocean Road again, might see if they want to come with us for a couple of days too!
My car is good! Only cost me $500 - unregistered, but it was in really good condition anyway for that price. Needed the window winder handles fixed, a couple of electrical switches, a new battery (only found that out yesterday - we had to jump start it when we picked it up as the car hadn't been used, but it's not holding charge so had to buy a new one) will need a new tyre, had the exhaust fixed today as it had a crack in it, but that's about it. Little repairs really, which will have cost me probably about $400 all together, but should hopefully sell the car for at least $1500, but might try and put $2000 on it!
Going to a surprise birthday party tonight… girly lunch tomorrow with the girl who's birthday it is and then a quiet day on Sunday ready for my last week of work next week! Looking forward to getting travelling again so I can use my camera lots again! Haha.
Also been looking at plans for what to do when I have to leave Australia in August… thinking of going back to Cambodia for a couple of weeks, going to Borneo and China before flying over to New Zealand for work/travel. All depends how much I can save here when I come back in a few months though!
Byeeee for now. xx
PS the lizard in the picture is the sort we have in the garden!
