Hey!

Sorry it's been so long, I couldn't be bothered to sit down and write stuff that I'd been up to, cos it would take forever! But, I started a new job yesterday and there is literally NOTHING to do, so I thought I would write one now as I still have 7 hours to sit here and somehow kill.... But I'm not writing a 7 hour blog entry haha!

So yeah, was working for a company called Toll Dnata, which is a freight company, who are part of a massive group called Toll. They do all sorts of stuff, but mostly freight in different ways. All very very exciting. As I was just working there covering a member of staff who was on holiday they couldn't keep me on anymore. But to be fair I did pretty well out of them - I was supposed to be there for about 2 weeks and managed 2 months haha!

Now am working for a company called Pearl Aviation, just round the corner from where I worked at Toll. Pearl Aviation are a section of a business too - they are owned by a company called Paspaley - you may have heard of them - they are one of the biggest Pearling companies in the world and they reckon they are the best quality pearls in the world. So Pearl Aviation is the part of the company that takes the workers out to the rigs/pearl farms, and they also have like a rescue medical service I think. They do loadsa stuff anyway - the company Mark works for (AeroRescue) are also owned by them, and the company owns shopping malls and everything. So pretty good company to work for.

But I'm on the front reception desk here, have done an hours worth of work and there is now NOTHING to doooo! I am sitting here waiting for people to walk through the door, call, or email me. But it's not happening - apparently it's really quiet around Christmas. Lookign for other jobs too though. And the good one I applied for I didn't get :(

What else... Not doing alot really... Been rubbish weather this week. Just had a category 1 cyclone go through Darwin, so that was a lot of wind and rain! Rode to work the next day and literally had to come off the path about 5 times because there were trees in the way that had been blown down. There were branches and stuff everywhere - it rained for four days, tropical rain/storms. Areas were flooded and stuff, was pretty crazy! But that storm has gone now, it's turned into a category 2 and is somewhere down the West Coast now. (The worst is a category 5)

Not been doing a lot really, just going out every now and again, working blah blah blah. Mark has Christmas day and the two days after that off, the same as me so that will be good. Going to Dean and Keg's for Christmas day - some friends of Marks, who come out on the boat with us and Dean is the one who got me this job now. There'll be like 16 people there, and I think they're asking each person to take a dish of something. So that'll be nice!

That's about all - the weather is pants and my tan is gone. I am working here until the 15th of Jan (a little bit less pay, but more hours work, so I should manage to save about another $2000 this month). Then I may hang around here til late Feb/early March and go down to Melbourne and say hi to people down there. Then, I've spoken to Danni - a girl I worked with down in Tassie for a bit, and she wants to do the West Coast in a car, do the Great Ocean Road again, and do it all at the same time as I want to :)

So that'll be good! Especially if we like split the cost of a car or something as well. Been planning a bit for the West and reckon the whole trip will take about 6/7 weeks. I might stop for two or three weeks to do a bit more farm work - just a chance to top up funds and have a bit of a rest from moving everyday! Then maybe come back up to Darwin before I have to leave the country in August. I can get more work at Toll for 3 or 4 weeks in July/Aug so that'd be a good way to top funds back up again before I leave.

So that's about it... Nothing happening really! I need to get a job that I actually enjoy and is a bit challenging, becuase I have been a bit bored the last few weeks! Toll was an ok work load, but just boring admin stuff! I need to find something fun! But am looking out for stuff. There's a small chance I could get sponsorship here, but it's not anything I'm interested in. Not sure if I could stick out a job I don't like for two years, just so I can stay in the country!

We'll see though.
