Day 144
We got up early and got the MRT from Geylang to Harbour Front to get the cable car across to Sentosa Island. Sentosa Island is a manmade island, which offers hotel accomodation, huts on the beach, entertainment and food.....and we enjoyed a tasty Subway.
We had a walk around to get our bearings and then headed towards the Merlion, which you could walk up but we decided against this. From here we got the islands bus to take us to the Aquarium; we were a little disappointed as it wasn't as big and didn't take up as much time as expected. The highlight was touching different sea animals, such as a stingray in the touchpool.
Part of our Aquarium ticket allowed us entrance to the Pink Dolphin Show. They are one of the rarest forms of dolphin and the older they get the pinker their skin becomes. Whilst we were waiting for the show to start we were happily enjoying the sun and then just before the show started the heavens opened and it poured with rain. Then the dolphins and trainers came out, first of all they performed a health check with the dolphins. This entailed the dolphin performing different moves to show that parts of it's body were healthy, eg; fins. They then selected a girl from the crowd to join the trainer in the water and perform tricks with the dolphin, she went into the pool with all her clothes on! We then watched the show for about 40minutes, whereby either one or two dolphins performed tricks. Lorna was that excited about having her photo and touching the dolphin that she stormed off ahead of Al in order to get a good position in the queue.
We then headed onto the main beach where they were playing volleyball, there were only a few people in the sea as it was so polluted; due to large tankers out at sea. After a sunbathe we decided to do one of the tourist walks off the map, along this route were large animals and nothing else, after a while we got to a dead end and then headed back.
Just before we left Sentosa Lorna decided to go and have her picture with the giant rat as according to the Chinese New Year it was the year of the rat and that is also the year that Lorna was born.
