Day 7: 15/6/13
Today I had a lazy day. I had to check out at 10. I had everything fairly ready so I was able to sleep in until after 9. I put my luggage in storage in the hostel and then I went for breakfast.
There's a lagoon near the beach that you can swim in so lots of people hang around there. I spent most of the day there. I saw a little book market by there that had books for $2- the cheapest books I've seen in Australia! So I had to buy one! I spent most of the day then, about 5 hours at least at the lagoon, moving between the sun and the shade reading a book and finishing the blogs for the last few days.
I realise aswell that next Saturday I'll be in Brisbane for an hour as my bus goes through there and stops for a while. I text Shane and Mike to tell them and also that I'll be in Byron bay for the weekend if they were interested in joining. Mike rang back and I was chatting to him for a while about his work and my dossing. He's working next weekend but should be able to meet me for the hour I'm in Brisbane.
Two of the English girls, Lucy and Liz, joined me at the lagoon for a little while. We were all sitting reading really- none of us very chatty today! We went our separate ways for a few hours and we met again to get fish and chips. We got them all wrapped up in paper and headed off to the beach to eat them. We sat at a bench looking out at all the boats in the sea, while sea gulls were flying around us an rainbow lorikeets were screeching in the trees! The sky was reddish purple with the sunset. It was lovely!! When it went down further the stars started to come out and there was a lovely deep blue colour with a bright yellow stripe just over the water. I'm trying to describe it because photos don't do it justice! The sky is definitely nicer over here!!
I had to head back to the hostel then to get my luggage and then walk to the Greyhound stop- which is about a 15 minute walk. The Main Street is all dug up with roadworks so its a pain into arse- you have to keep crossing back and over the street when you want to walk along it! Anyway I got to the bus stop about half an hour before the bus was due to go. There was an older woman in an electronic wheelchair talking to two younger people and I was wondering if she was going to try to go on the bus. Then I heard her asking if they had faith in God! One said yes and the other one said no so I don't think she knew what to do!
I went to the bathroom and when I came back she was heading towards me. She was making small tal about my travels and teaching and stuff. Then the bus came and she asked if I had faith in God. She just laughed when I said most of the time! She whipped out a brochure and told me I could read it if I wish but I politely refused and told her someone else might make more use of it!!
I got checked in on the bus anyway and settled myself up with a book, the laptop, snacks and a bit more of the blog to write! The 14 1/2 hours will probably be very long. We left around ten past seven, lets see what hour of the morning we get there!
