Day 16: 16/7/12
Today was our first day off in 16 days, so we ha a very relaxing day! We stayed in bed for a while and enjoyed watching everyone else in the room pack up their stuff and head off early!
Today was the day for contacting people so vibered Shell, Alva and Cliona in the morning!
Then we headed off for breakfast an came across another parade with people in local costumes dancing around- was very entertaining. The dancing is a lot of jumping in weird masks with the men using whips. It's quite strange cos it was definitely for religious purposes, they had religious statues.
Went to buy a headlamp for our trip to the jungle and checked in for our flight tomorrow. Then we went to a chocolate museum which showed us how they make chocolate and the history of it- then we bought some yummy chocolate to eat!
Headed back to the hostel and skyped home- was talking to Mam and DAd, then we were talking to Mary and Tom! Great catching up with everyone.
We walked up the town for a while and when we came back our room had been invaded by 5 Brazilian lads. They had been to La Paz and are going to maccu pichu soon. they want to go to Ireland some day to drink Guinness!!
We went back up the town for a while and did a bit of shopping. It was out first bit of shopping really, so got a few nice little touristy things!
Had to pack a bag for the jungle- its going to be an interesting experience!! Took ages to organise what to bring. While we were at this there was a bit of a sing- song going on below with a guitar, bongo, tambourine and triangle. Sounded like good craic but most of the songs must be south American ones- we never heard of them! Have to get the bag sorted and get ready to leave at 5:30am so no sing-song for us!!
There's no electricity in the jungle so won't be able to update the blog until we get back to Lima- it might be Sunday before ye see an update!
