Day 8: 8/7/12
Can you believe we have a week done- we can't! It's flown for us anyway!!
After our interesting bus journey (Muir thought we should describe it in detail or ye would be giving out- anyway we are very open about these things! Shes feeling okay today anyway. For any strangers reading, we are not always like this!!), we got to our hostel in a taxi with no bother. We couldn't check in cos it was only 9am but we sat outside in the patio area. I started into the lock, trying all combinations from 000 up and eventually it opened at 958!! There was great excitement- we even took a photo! I was very proud of my patience to go through all the combinations!! I know now how not to lock them and won't make the same mistake again!!
We moved inside then where there was wifi and we followed the Sunday game updates on twitter. They were up every few seconds so we were getting very excited- it felt like we were there!
We went up the town for a walk- there's a gorgeous square (plaza de arma) and lots of amazing churches and stuff. We didn't wait long cos we got awful tired! It may have been the overnight bus journey or it may be that we're halfway up the mountains. We went for a rest in d hostel and felt much better. If it was the height- were cured!!
Went back up the square and walked round little shopeens and looks at little tourist didis. Had dinner in a restaurant over looking the square. It got dark while we were there and it just looked class with all the lights on! There's mountains in the background with snow too- very cool. The square was packed with people and there were women singing and dancing with tambourines when we were on the way back. As you can see by all the photos, the square is lovely and I loved it here!!
We're back in the hostel now and we have to get an overnight bag ready because we are being picked up at 7.30am for an overnight trip through the colca canyon. Were staying in a hotel tomorrow night as part of the trip- not sure if it will have wifi. If not, we're back in this hostel the next night and we will update then.
