Today was a full day of adventure and exploration. We left our accommodation and boarded a shuttle ship to travel up the coast along the Abel Tasman National Park.Abel Tasman is the most accessible and the most visited national park in New Zealand. We first cruised up the coast for 2 ½ hours from Kaiteriteri to Totaranui and then back down to the Tonga Quarry.Enroute we saw incredible landscapes of pine trees, granite, marble and limestone hills, beautiful azure waters, golden bays and even a sweet seal colony. There were many kayaks weaving in an out of the countless bays, as well.We disembarked at the Tonga Quarry to hike back to Medlands Beach. The hike was moderate—quite steep in some places, as it wound its way through the native forest. The scenery was breathtaking, the sounds of nature exquisite and the feeling of being a part of something much larger was expansive. The walking meditation was welcomed at this juncture in our journey and we were really awed by this experience. As we came to the finish, we hiked by Bark Bay Falls. The rushing sounds of the water and the views were extraordinary.Even the rain and the biting sand flies, at the end of this walk, could not take away from the beauty of it all.
