Hi All,

We thought we would take a break from the scorching desert heat to update you. As Gareth's mum has reminded us this weekend is Easter so Happy Easter, also Happy Holi...more coming soon.

So after Udaipur we headed to Ranukpar it is somewhere a lot of people miss out when visiting Rajasthan but Dada thinks that if you haven't seen Ranukpar you haven't seen Rajasthan...so off we went. It is in the middle of a forest and its biggest attraction is a Jain temple. Jainism, like Hinduism, is a nice religion with some monks sweeping the ground before they walk so they don't harm any insects. This temple is by far the most impressive we have seen (and we have seen a lot) and is made up of 1444 pillars, each one carved different to the rest. The whole thing took 83 years to make (now that would show Grand Designs a thing or two). After a few hours looking round and cursing at our lack of photographic inability (Jo, I think you need to come along as trip photographer on all future travels) we headed up to a nearby lake to watch the sunset. The lake was pretty dry at this time of year but that meant it was more easy to spot the resident crocs. Dada took us there mainly to watch Gareth squirm walking along a wall that was twenty foot high and a foot wide as much to his amusement he had discovered Gareth didn't like high drops the night before. We also got stuck in several goat traffic jams here as just when the place went quiet another goat herder would try and squeeze 40 goats past us on a very narrow and steep path.

The food at the hotel here was fantastic and our usual aloo gobi, paneer butter masala and veg biryani was even better than usual. It was a shame we didn't have time for a third meal here but instead it was time to head to Jodphur...
