Laura's Aussie Adventure!
I can't believe it's Wednesday already! Christine left Perth this morning to go to Melbourne. She begins the 2 day train journey back the way we came today and she will arrive on Melbourne on Friday. Hopefully she won't spend all her time in the smoking carriage talking to the weirdos! Although if she finishes all her ciggies on the journey she may give up before we see her again - go Christine!! She is going to stay with her friend Emma, who she met last year. This way she saves some cash and we will meet her down in Melbourne next week.
After updating you yesterday the three of us went down to see the Swan Bells Tower, which is one of the worlds largest musical instruments as it is over 300m tall and contains 12 ancient bells. After that we thought it would be a good idea to head over to Cottesloe Beach as it is supposed to have amazing sunsets! So we came back to the hostel for blankets and beers etc and got the train over. Just our luck then that by the time we got there the sky had filled with dark clouds and it was freezing!!!! We sat on the beach for a while, took some photos, and drank our beer (such jakes!!) but then decided it was way too cold and cloudy and there was nothing to see! :0( We then spent another night playing in the games room!
Michelle and I looked into the whole camper van idea but we only have 6 days to spare until we go to Melbourne and there is a minimum rental period of 7 days so we have hired a car instead. This way it is cheaper, faster and probably a bit easier to drive!! We pick up the car tomorrow morning - it is a Hyundai Accent - and we will set off early on our road trip!! Our plan is to head to the Pinnacles, Geraldton, Kalbarri National Park, Monkey Mia and Shark Bay. Monkey Mia and Shark Bay are the furthest away - about 800 km from Perth - so our 6 days will be pretty busy with all the stops! The workers in the hostel here have been filling us in on where's best to visit etc. Looking forward to Kalbarri Park though for the views and Monkey Mia to see all the dolphins!!!
We are planning to come back to Perth on the Tuesday so that we are back in plenty of time for the train on Wednesday and we can spend our last night back in this Hostel as we have already paid for another night anyway.
This may therefore be my last update for a few days - depending on whether or not we find many internet cafes. I am sure we will have a ball and will have lots to tell you next week!
Miss you all and hear from you soon hopefully!! xx
