The Activity Budget…time to know your elephant!
This was the first activity budget I did today; I recorded Tosha as the previous volunteer had done all the elephants except her. It was a day witch really made me smile, I was out in the field with just the guides there to help me, you always have to be with a guide when you’re in the field. I learnt so much from watching Tosha today; I learnt about elephants but also myself, as I straight away new I would find this very interesting to do, and something that will be quite important to m over the next few weeks. You can learn so much if you’re willing to, from watching something but also you can learn a lot from talking to other people, I chatted with the guides a lot today and it’s the beginning of getting to know them and them getting to know me. It’s interesting to learn about different cultures and different people. I know I will make some very special friends hear and those elephants will be a big part of that to.
The elephants can walk where they would like to around the park but there are certain restrictions and areas where they cannot. The guests that come out to the field on a tour can purchase fruit buckets that they would like to feed to the elephants and they then get time to interact and learn about them. There is a lot of education that comes with the park in terms of the commercial side; guests can take a lot of information from the guides and from seeing the elephants.
