I feel so lost after doing the East Coast. Everythings been chaotic and now it's time to start worrying about cash and what the next step is.
Off i went to Darwin, got a flight on the 6th of February. It was good to catch up with Scott again. First thing he done was show me around but... That did end in tours of the pubs haha.
When I checked into Melaleuca hostel, (where Scott was staying) I didn't think much of the rooms. When I came out the lift, I realised I was put on an all girls floor. At the time I wasn't impressed but it has ended up being one of my favourite rooms since being in Australia :) The hostel is on the Main Street of Darwin so there's everything on your doorstep including a Coles Supermarket and about 6 bars...
That first night in the hostel was a Thursday so it was Happy Hour - well..... Happy Thursday... The hostel bar had drinks on promotion (so cheap) and the tunes were awesome. Instantly felt right at home haha!
Apart from the Cage of Death (see separate Blog) I didn't get up to too much in Darwin. I slowly realised that unless you're on tours, there's not much to do in the wet season.... Except drink. Kakadu National Park and Litchfield tours are the popular trips to do from Darwin, but they are currently closed due to high rain fall.
Darwin itself is BRILLIANT though. For being a big city, the main CBD is like a little town, so it's very easy to feel settled here very quickly. About a 10-15 minute walk from CBD there's a lagoon (you can't swim in the sea so there's sectioned off swimming holes) AND A WAVE POOL. That is the best $7 I have ever spent.... I managed to catch up with a girl called Charlie that I worked with in Magalluf, who now lives in Darwin and we spent an afternoon down the wave pool on a scorching day. GREAT FUN and great way to not sweat yourself into a disgusting melting mess from the humidity. It's so bloody tropical here!
Nights were spent in the hostel drinking or at Shenanigans - the Irish bar along the road that had happy hours, a different band on every night and the best Sunday sesh I have ever attended. Met amazing people, made amazing friends and had such a good laugh. So sad to leave now GOD DAMMIT EAST COAST SUCKING ALL MY MONEY UP! Will miss my roomies at Room 88 and Janea plus all the others from Melaleuca too :(
I decided that although I am rapidly running out of cash, I should book my middle of Oz tours to get me down to Melbourne since I need to be there for Future and the Grand Prix anyway. Hoping to find work for accommodation or maybe a little job.... Who knows.
Doing a 3 day tour down to Alice Springs leaving tomorrow, then a 3 day tour from there then I need to fly to Melbourne.....
The adventure continues!
