29th Jan - Today was a day we thought would never come by this quickly. It was the last day of our Australia adventure and also the day we would have to say goodbye and good luck to Siobhan living in Australia.
We left for the airport together as our flights were similar times. Our bus took us to both the International terminal (for me and Hannah) and the Domestic terminal (for Siobhan). Noone had really spoken about saying our goodbyes, I think we were all trying to avoid the conversation. We arrived at the domestic terminal first - the terminal for Siobhan. We all got out the bus to say goodbye and had a group hug. Siobhan started crying so Hannah started crying. I didn't cry (as usual). But then out of nowhere I had an urge to hug her as I knew it may be some time until I get to do that again and unexpectedly I cried. It was like a movie moment.
Siobhan went to her terminal and we went to the other one for our flight. When we got there, we looked on the boards for our flight but it wasn't there!! We were panicking, thinking we'd got the time or date wrong. But upon checking with a member of staff, they just told us we had just gone to the wrong terminal. Phew!
We shortly realised that we would be going to the same terminal as Siobhan and have to say our goodbyes all over again! But this time it was more of a 'see you later'.
We boarded our flight and I spent the time reflecting on my time in Australia. I had an amazing time, very different to South East Asia but that's what it's all about. I would say travelling in Australia felt like more of a holiday than real travelling like in Asia. I would like to one day go back and work for 1-2 years. There are some beautiful parts of Australia, not to mention that the pay is double of what we are paid in the UK!
