14th Feb - We woke up at the crack of dawn to get the ferry to the South island. We had got comfy having stayed 3 nights in one place for once (!!) but it was now that dreaded time to pack our bags and return them to where they belong - our back!! We lugged our bags down to the bus stop where the kiwi bus would pick us up from. Luckily, we had a VERY rare spare 10 minutes before the bus arrived, so we ran to the supermarket to grab a croissant and banana - standard breakfast! When we got on the bus, it wasn't long before we drove onto the ferry. Then we had to grab our bags off the ferry which we weren't too pleased about (having thought we'd made another long term bag dumping - we like those). We had to check our bags in like you do on a plane. We walked onto the ferry and the first thing we did was find the recliner seats. I WAS going to have a sleep. I was determined - wherever we could grab sleep, we took it. Having laid down on the seat for about 5 minutes, I was out for the count for the next 3 hours. Boom!! It was a nap well needed. When I got up, it wasn't long until the ferry landed so I thought I'd plug my iPod in to charge. I kept looking and looking at it thinking... 'I must not forget my iPod' even 5 minutes before landing. We grabbed our stuff and made our way off the ferry; the pedestrians exited the ferry first before the vehicles. It was when we got off the ferry I suddenly thought: 'S#£t! My iPod!!!!!'. I ran back to the ferry to grab it and luckily it was still there - exactly where I'd left it. Unfortunately I had managed to stop ALL the cars/lorries/you name it from being able to get off the ferry as they were waiting for me to get off first!! Haha. Typical me.
When we finally got off the bus, we got our hefty backpacks back and got back on the kiwi bus again to continue our journey to Kaiteriteri. We stopped off at a place called Nelson where we were taught the art of 'wine tasting'. Personally, I'd rather down my wine than swirl it, sniff it and sip it. But we got to 'taste' a few wines. Luckily for me noone liked the red wine so I got a lot more than intended. Afterwards we went.. 'Fudge tasting'. By this, I'd expect to taste a few samples of different fudges. But no no.. just a tiny slither of one fudge will do, don't worry about it.
After that stop we jumped back on the bus finally stopping at Kaiterieri in the evening. There was 8 of our gang so we checked into an 8 bed dorm like a little family. That night we made a group dinner which was chicken salad.. with chickpeas, avocado, tomato, spring onions, cucumber. Yeah! After dinner, we standardly played some drinking games in our room with some boxes of wine. We had decided to get back on the wine boxes as we needed to start saving money on booze! When we all had a tipple or a few, we all headed out to the beach about 11-ish. Me, Hannah, Stu and Adam decided to go skinny dipping in the coldest water everrrrrr and I danced around on the beach and in the sea (standard) and got everyone to do some cheerleading on the beach. Woop Woop! We lifted Hannah and Kylie up in the air; I think it was a miracle noone got hurt considering how drunk we all were! Me and Char also attempted some gymnastics on the beach. We come up with amazing ideas after a box of wine!!
