So I have said goodbye to everyone so back by myself which makes a change.i I have taken myself off to the Strand Hotel, a famous art deco colonial one for afternoon tea but I'm have Myanmar style rather than traditional so that includes ; Tea Leaf Salad, Vegetable Puff, Spring Roll, Sticky rice flour dumpling with sweet toddy tree 'jaggery', 'Shwe Kyi Sanwinmakin'Semolina Fruit Cake, Steamed Plantain Banana in Caramel with Citron leaf, Myanmar fresh churned ice cream and earl grey tea! Not that hungry due to the heat but seemed a shame not to give it a go.
This morning after saying goodbye to Sylvia (the Swiss girl) and Anne (my roomie), I wandered round the downtown area with Andrea (the Aussie). The four of us had hung out together both in Bagan and at the beach. It was incredibly hot and humid so frequent stops for cold drinks were needed but still quite uncomfortable Yangon seems very busy and noisy after the beach and Bagan - and we didn't find anything to buy, not to mention the monks just aren't quite so photogenic here and their alma seems to be collecting and asking for money.
As there are no credit cards here and they only exchange absolutely pristine US dollars we all changed quite a bit at the beginning and therefore hoping we can change some back again at the airport - it will be strange not to be walking around with wads of notes and be able to use the credit card/ ATMs - that also don't exist here.
Jut a couple of days in Hong Kong before heading back home or near home (various places in Europe) for a month. Some friends are going through a tough time so I am actually glad to be heading back and spending some time with them - that's when being away isn't great.
