Hey all, finally got to vague civilisation and access to the internet for the first time. Having an amazing time, the past week's absolutely flown by! Missing you all of course.Â
Met everyone in Santiago, there's 11 of us and 4 crew members (2 are being trained up to take over in 2 weeks when the other 2 leave) and I'm the only English person, and the babby on the truck - bless!! Mostly Aussie's plus a fair few Irish. Our truck is a beauty that was born in 1972 into the German army and she's still going strong! She's called Wham (no idea why) and has a max speed of 60 kmph! Speedy!
So since leaving Santiago we crossed the Andes into Argentina (saw lots of chair lifts in one of the ski resorts but no snow yet) and stayed 2 nights in a hostel in Mendoza. Had a cool day of vineyard trips and wine and olive tasting :o) and ate a few huge steaks. The Argentinians definitely like their meat - wow! Since Mendoza we've been camping - we're in our 4th campsite now and one night we free-camped in a dried up river bed and slept out under the stars. That was awesome except for the dew! We've been to a few national parks (Talampaya, Moon Valley and Isch...... can't spell it!) and seen the most amazing scenery ever. In about 8 hours of driving we passed from arid desert to thick, lush jungle, to hills that looked like Wales and back into the desert.Â
Today's a free day and been mostly chilling out. We wanted to go quad biking but have just been so screwed around by the people that we've given it a miss. Plenty more chances! Going to try find somewhere to call home soon mum - I promise! Got dinner tonight in a reccommended restaurant that serves whole baby animals e.g. you get a plate with a whole baby goat on it. Hmm might have salad!
Off to Salta tomorrow. Been travelling up Routa 40 just like Che Guevera did - only we're probably actually slower!!
Missing everyone, keep the message board full, it was great to read them all! Lots of love xxxxxÂ
