Merry Christmas!!
Now the festivities are over i\'ll update you on my Cambodian christmas!
Christmas Eve - Got into Siem Reap in the morning and shopped at the markets. After lunch, a few of us decided to go give blood at the local childrens hospital that was set up by a Swiss doctor to give free treatment to children, esp those with Dengue fever. However as it is against their religion, many Khmer people will not give blood so they rely on tourists. The place was Western standards Mum so dont worry!! Went to a butterfly garden in the afternoon (just for you Dad!!).
In the evening we got dressed up in our new tailored clothes and headed to Dead Fish, a restaurant with a crocodile pit! Very different!
Christmas Day- Managed to drag ourselves out of bed at 4.30am after about 2 hours sleep!!! What for??For a sunrise over Angkor Wat that didnt happen because of clouds!! We were not impressed! Managed to gather energy though and spent the day exploring temples, including the Tomb Raider Jungle temple (Ta Prung) which was pretty impressive! Also visited a landmine museum and met loads of the kids who have been victims.
For our christmas dinner, we had Khmer food at alovely little restaurant, except several hundred bugs decided they weren\'t going to miss out on it and joined us!! It didn\'t matter once the drinks were flowing though and I had one of the best Christmases so far!!
Hope everyone else had a good time, missing you all,
xxx
