First off - where the hell is everyone?? I haven't heard from anyone for a while. Have you all fallen off the edge of the earth??? How about sending some love!!??!! We may just stay here. No one seems to care that were gone!! Only 4 days to go but we can change our plans.
There are tons of things to do - bungee-jumping, caving, rafting, sledging, jetboating, skiing, skydiving, zip lining and hang gliding. All this and the city is great. I decided to forgo the crazy things and decided to experience Queenstown without the adrenaline rush. Vic, on the other hand, wanted to try para gliding. I really didn't want to "enjoy" the scenery being terror-stricken for a few seconds whilst dangling on the end of a parachute like thingy. But, I decided to go with him and see if I could watch them jump off. I was counting my insurance money but he had a good takeoff and landing. I was happy for him (not so much for me!). He was so thrilled with the experience. But - a happy hubby means a happy wife. Forget the other version!
Then we decided to go up the gondola to the top of the mountain. It was a really nice trip. once up there, we decided to take a hike through the mountains and saw all sorts of beautiful scenery, as usual. I didn't want to get all sweaty (it was 10:00am) so we decided to turn around after about an hour and went back to the city for lunch. It's amazing how many Canadians are here. We meet them everywhere. Our waitress at lunch was from Kitchener. She's been in NZ for 1 month and loves it. There are so many people who come and stay (as I said before). Don't be surprised if we don't come back!
It was a lazy day. We walked the boardwalk along the lake at least 4 times just people watching (eat your heart out Brad!), did some shopping and watched buskers and street performers do their thing. Beth was sky diving, and was a bit apprehensive, so we wanted to go and give her some encouragement (and a hug). She was nowhere to be found at the meeting place!! So Vic went to inquire and found out that the time was delayed. We finally caught up,wittj her and chatted until it was time to get her onto the bus. She did it. We were proud of her!
We just had to have a burger from Fergburger, a burger joint that has lineups for miles all the time. We waited for about 3/4 of an hour, at 3:00 pm, and went to the waterfront to share it. What a disappointment. Vic wants to get a "Licks" franchise and come here. He figures he can make a fortune. We didn't even finish it. Vic ended up feeding the ducks - they were eating out of his hand - with the remains. I checked out the hot guys (there are lots of them) and Vic checked out the hot girls (there are lots of them). It was a mutually satisfying endeavour. :)
We had to get lunch for tomorrow so did some shopping and went to the hotel to drop it off. Then we tore ourselves off the bed to go for another walk around the other way from the city. We walked along the boardwalk for a whole and saw some trees that should have been used in Avatar. It's funny, we were at places in Peru and Australia that claimed to be the sites of the film set but, I swear, this was. The trees were huge!! Then we walked on the stone beach and tried to skip stones in the water.
We were so tired that we wanted to eat and get to bed, even though we weren't hungry, so we went for a pizza that a couple in the group recommended. The pizza was huge!!! We only got through about 1/2 of it. I can't believe how early we're going to bed here. In Australia we were up til all hours dancing and drinking and I was hardly ever tired yet here were not doing any of that and were exhausted. It's very weird.
So, again, no dancing and an early night. To all my friends at home: you'd better get ready for a night out soon!!!
