Sorry about the lack of blogs. The internet here is crappy. You'll be receiving a bunch in a row now.
Leaving our hippie flashback behind, we headed to the coastal township of Port Macquarie (pronounced Macwarrie), which features all the beauty of the beach set alongside gorgeous national parks. We have another CEO, Monique, hitching a ride with us for this leg of the trip. She was leading tours in Indochina so it will be a great opportunity to chat with her about that area where we would like to see. It's another sunny, hot day and we're in a bus again. But I got to sit beside Nikki, one of my dancing gal pals so the trip was better with her beside me. Good times! Our first stop was the lighthouse which Vic & I walked to yesterday. Still didn't see any dolphins but it's a beautiful spot.
There's not much to talk about on a travel day. We then had a rest stop at a nice little town, Ulmarra, on a river where we got to stretch our legs and get a beverage. Nice garden there. The next stop was at the Big Banana, which we have heard so much about from Caitlin. Our trip is now complete. We have seen the Big Banana!!
Lunch was in Coffs Harbour, a picturesque fishing town. We went to the docks and had a variety platter of fish & chips. Mm mm. Then - guess what? Yup back on the bus for the next leg of our trip to Port Macquarie. We got to hear Doug's version of his "ejection" from the Cheeky Monkey last night. It was a misunderstanding. The bouncer was totally being an a******, as I suspected.
Port Macquarie had a blues festival and BBQ fest, similar to our rib fests, happening so it was cool to listen to the music while strolling along. I went for a quick walk to the boardwalk while Vic chilled in the room. I saw the fishing pier with fisherman trying to land the big catch, pretty birds and a beautiful sunset. The birds were crazy - squawking away and flying about. It was a beautiful evening, although the squawking did get annoying after a while.
Then it was back to the room to collect hubby and out for another nice dinner with the group. Guess what? Yup, a few of us went dancing afterwards. I haven't danced this much in a long time!!! We went to an Irish pub, Finnegans, that had a hard rock band playing. They were great. we danced the night away again. Most of the group left before closing but Nikki and I stayed and closed the place down. One guy, who was really nice, took to my dancing companion. He reminded me of Crocodle Dundee. He was cute and a gentleman to boot. He walked us back to our hotel all the while trying to talk us into going to his house. That was not happening. Momma Rosa was having none of it. So he just entertained us with his stories until we arrived safely at the hotel and I made sure Nikki was safely in her room.
