Arrived in Wanaka this morning, SO BEAUTIFUL. Oh my god, the scenery is just out of this world. Crystal blue glittering lakes surrounded by the greenest landscape i've ever seen, topped off with a tremendous backdrop of snow-capped mountains 360 degrees around us! Breathtaking.
We are off to Queenstown tomorrow and are staying 6 nights, phew, we can finally unpack! Next week we have booked a day trip to Milford Sound too which we are both really excited for.
So, yesterday!!!!!!!! Glacier hike..........! AMAZING. We got up early, went to the centre and all of us were kitted up in our heavy gear, loaded onto the bus and driven to the entrance of the glacier. Apparently it's one of three glaciers in the world that descends down to temperate rainforest. As you can imagine this just looks incredible. The ice is packed so hard in places it's extremely blue due to the way the light refracts off it or something (my dad will know i'm sure.....). We walked 11.5km on the ice (apparently) and squeezed through tiny wee holes and gaps, incredible. Anyway i'll let you see the photos eventually.
Despite the fact it rained all day, it was still one of the most incredible experiences ever.
Must run, credit is running out.
Love you all

Dad Hola. Sounds just amazing. You're in danger of running out of superlatives. The glacier hike was obviously a highlight. I'm pleased you're both having such a wonderful time. Looking forward to viewing all the photos - and the soundtrack!! Csoon, love xXx
Momma What a great description of your amazing time in New Zealand......keep them coming.Love you!
Dad PS The ice absorbs light from the red region of the spectrum and transmits light from the blue region of the spectrum. The 'blue' light reaches our eyes and so the ice appears to be blue. Simples! But the science doesn't explain why it's so beautiful does it? Love xXx
Peter You have already come across a few "paradises" on this trip and Queenstown will be another. We're finding a few ourselves this week! You are actually with us 3 weeks on Sunday...warning. They are re-building the arrivals hall at Melbourne Airport so this won't be paradise!
