Today was our last day together, which I tried not to think about too much. I was sad to be leaving Hayley and the uncertainty of her travelling alone again began to creep back into my mind.
We didn't do much, just wandered around the city, enjoying each other company and eating the occasional pretzel (the same shape as the small hard pretzels we know, but ten times as big and soft and chewy). We looked through the markets in the town square and saw many beautiful pieces of jewellery inlaid with amber, which were very expensive. Hayley spied a lovely chess set and after debating whether it would go through Australian customs or not, decided to buy it…and send it home with me.
For our last meal together and because Hayley was heading to Zdiar, a small Slovakian village which mightn't have Asian food, we headed to a Chinese/sushi restaurant she'd found online. It was decorated in a traditional Japanese theme and I had sushi which was delicious, while Hayley had some yummy noodles.
Back in our room, we both packed up our backpacks in preparation for our departure the next day; me at 6:00am and Hayley later in the day. I decided it would be a good idea if we said goodbye tonight then I could leave early in the morning without a tear staned face. We both cried and remarked on how well we'd got along considering we were in each other's pocket for the majority of the trip. Hayley admitted that she was hoping I would annoy during the trip so that she'd be glad I was going...but I had tried very hard to remember that she was an adult and treat her as such and so avoided annoying her…which meant she was sad to see me leave.
