I'm not sure why, perhaps it was knowing that we only had four days left together before I headed back to Australia and wouldn't see Hayley again for another two months; or perhaps that we'd had such a busy three weeks and just needed time to chill out, but I'd lost some enthusiasm for travel by the time we arrived in Krakow. Maybe it was because we'd left an English speaking country and were back to relying on pointing and hand signals, and butchering of the local language to be understood. I didn't even bother to learn the basic, hello, goodbye and thank you that I done for previous countries. It was all such a shame as Krakow is a very beautiful city.
We settled into our room which was up a three flights of stairs in a big old building. It was very quiet and we seemed to be the only guests. Hayley had tracked down a vegetarian restaurant in a country where most meals are based around meat, so we jumped on a tram and headed off to find it. It was my first ride on a tram which was quite exciting, though not a lot different to bus travel. Our meal was a delicious mix of salads and one salad in particular was truly tasty, even though I couldn't determine what vegetables were in it, though I do think it contained caraway seeds.
