I'm just about to leave KL for now and head off into the rainforest for a few days and thought I should do a quick update just in case I don't make it back...
The last couple of weeks have been much more of the same work really, going backwards and forwards from Batu Arang for rehearsals and more English classes but it's been great and I'm really sad to have left and had to say goodbye to everyone. Luckily I'm flying back from Thailand in a couple of weeks to watch the performance of Fallen Leaves that we've been working towards so haven't had to say proper goodbyes to the people I've been working the most closely with otherwise I would be very very VERY sad!
Other than work and try to buy as many souvenirs as possible before I leave I've been on a bit of a tourist mission, trying to tick off all the things on my list that haven't been done yet! So I've been to the National Monument which was really amazing. It was designed by the same guy who did the Iwo Jima memorial which is why it looks a bit similar but it's in a really nice setting in the Lake Gardens on the outskirts of town so is really peaceful and has a really nice atmosphere even though it is quite a sad place. Then it was on to the Petronas Towers to go up to the Skybridge which joins the two towers. Like the other KL tower you get an amazing view of the city but it's somehow not quite as impressive as the bridge is a long way below the tops of the towers so you get the feeling everything looks a lot better from the offices up there.
The last eight weeks have gone so quickly, it's really strange to think how unfamiliar everything was when I arrived and now how used to everything I am and how sad I'll be to leave! But I'll be back soon so can't really get too nostalgic just yet...
