Liz and Cheryls Amazing Adventure!
Well hello there everyone, I hope you have been waiting for the next update with baited breath!
Well from where we left it last time we have been on a few adventures and met some really nice people.
On Friday 22nd we checked out of our hostel only for me (Cheryl) to be told off my the hostel manager because I told 2 girls not to book any tours through them but with a travel agent as it would be cheaper. I was told to get out and go away!!!! Well no skin off my nose I wont have to see him ever again!
We got picked up and had a 3 hour bus journey to Ha Long Bay where we boarded a large boat and set sail. The views were amasing, massive rock formations coming out the sea. We visited a cave and got to swim in the warm water and we also did a spot of kayaking. I must say me and Liz were a dab hand!
We had dinner on the boat and got talking to some people from Ireland and England. We spent the night on the boat and we had to share a bed. Sorry boys!
We had to be up early on the Saturday moring as we were treking in the national park by 9am!!!!!!! The sun was beating down on us and we had climb 2km straight up hill. It was a killer. Liz did fab, I on the other hand wasn't feeling to hot and got a bit upset with myself coz I felt I was letting the group and myself down. The guide we were with was fab and he helped me up. The views were great. Hopefully when we get the chance to burn our pictures onto some cds we will put them on here. After 2 hours for walking we were dropped back at a hotel on Cat Ba Island. The afternoon was free for us to do as we wished so a big group of us went to the beach. We just chilled and read books, listened to music, went swimming and caught some rays! The sun tan had offically started!
Sunday was another early start, we were picked up from hotel and taken back to boat for a 3 hour cruise, we also got to go swimming as well. Then it was the 3 hour bus trip back to Hanoi. We had a free stay in a hostel because we booked the tour with them. It was a bit of a s*** hole if I do say and we didn't have a window which sucked! Sunday evening we met up with the Irish people we had made friends with and went for tea and a few beers!
Monday morning was a bit crap as both me and Liz felt home sick, but I think that was more to do with the room than anything else. We had to kill the whole day as our train to Hue wasn't due until 11pm. We decided to go swimming in the outdoor pool of a nearby 4* hotel. We spent all afternoon there, even though it p*#sed it down all day! In the evening we went to a bar and got talking to a couple from Oz, before we went for a lovely tea.
Got to the train station and due to the lack of soft sleepers we had to book the hard sleeper. We thought it was going to be dreadful, but to our amazment the beds were fine. There were 6 to a cabin but only 1 other guy was in with us and it had air con and a door! In the cabin next to us was 2 familys from Oz who were really nice. They invited us to stay with them when we get to Oz in Dec.
The train arrived in Hue at 10.30am and after me and Liz got attacked by loads of tour guides we managed to find a nice little hostel. We think we will be here just tonight before getting the open tour bus to the next stop.
Thanks for all the emails and messages, they really do keep us going, so feel free to add one!
Take care and we will be in touch soon.
Love and miss you all lots (especially our boys!!!)
