Although our journey through New Zealand comes to a close,
We've experienced everything we came for…and more, I suppose.
So as we say farewell to a land of such sights,
Here are just some of our favourite highlights…
Skydiving and bungy swings got the adrenaline pumping,
While our little camper van had the iPod thumping.
Eyes so wide at the sight of mountains and fjords,
With walks along valleys and beaches, we were never bored.
Waitomo Caves of glow worms, abseiling and a climb,
Some of the cheapest Kiwis you'll ever find
(of course the fruit kind)
Dolphins, diving whales and the odd seal,
Mouth-watering lamb for an anniversary meal.
Pretty towns with autumnal leaves,
Sandwiches and crackers for lunch…again…with cheese.
Early morning sunrises from the door of the van,
Freebies and movie nights in cosy hostels - we are fans.
Maori haka, hangi and thermal springs,
Are just some of our favourite things.
Alas, we didn't see a kiwi bird,
But instead penguins, gulls and peacocks were observed.
Over 7000 kms driven up … and…down,
From village…to coast…to town.
Even hiking over a glacier we covered a fair distance,
Our only souvenirs are photos and blisters.
So it's time to move on - we've had all our budget allows,
Thank you New Zealand and E Haere a for now J
