Falling (rain and bungee swings)
Today I watched as my husband was dropped into a gorge 160 metres up!The last couple of days however have been slightly more chilled (and wet)!
As we had hoped our anniversary meal out of lamb and red wine followed by chocolate pudding was delicious and left us happily full.
The windy drive to Kinloch yesterday gave impressive lake views and we arrived to a small retreat area and the nicest room yet (very cosy cabin with a view of lake).Complete with cushioned benches, friendly dogs and homemade chocolate cake this was a lovely place to be staying.Sam practised for the bungee swing he was thinking about doing in Queenstown on a rope swing over the water (lucky no falling in) while being watched by one of the dogs.We took a short stroll by the lake before the rain came down again when we decided to take shelter in the TV room with a couple of DVDs and the popcorn maker.Despite the now torrential rain we made use of the hot tub set into the hillside (shame we couldn't see the view or stars too clearly through the clouds!).After a night of heavy rain and a very good night's sleep we drove back into Queenstown.
Queenstown is very picturesque (another lakeside hostel with autumnal colours on the trees) despite its tourist popularity and the number of people it attracts. We have earmarked the luge for tomorrow and within minutes of being here Sam's 'maybe' of doing a bungy swing became a reality as he signed up for the world's highest this afternoon.I can't say this activity really appealed to me so I took a spectator ticket and jumped in the mini-bus full of adrenaline junkies to the top of the gorge. The walk across the bridge to the platform was enough for me but Sam was excitedly (and slightly nervously) getting strapped into his harness. His turn had soon arrived and he took to the edge of the platform - I think he enjoyed it!I was quite glad to be holding the camera instead!
Looking forward to the Luge tomorrow and a good 'window-shop'!
