Our next bus was from Airlie Beach to Mission Beach. I spent about a week at mission beach realxing by the pool in a really nice hostel. I went white water rafting on the Tully River for a whole day and it was awesome! Best activity i've ever done. We spent about 6 hours on the river and stopped for lunch half way. We went down loads of rapids, some of which were graded 4, a grade 6 rapid means no one has ever managed to complete it, as soon as someone does it becomes a grade 5, so grade 4s are pretty hard! we swam down rapids, one i stayed under water for 15 seconds beacuse i kept getting sucked back under, pretty scary but soo fun. Jumped off rocks 5m high, went under water falls and capsized the raft. Vinnie was our instructor and we felt pretty safe in his hands since his biceps were huge.
7th November: Our last bus picked us up from mission and took us to Cairns via a croc farm were we could hold lizards, a baby croc, baby dingos, baby wallabys and some other small furry things. We watched the croc feeding time and saw a 5m long croc.
Our hostel in Ciarns was really nice and clean and in a good loaction. I spent a week in Cairns before heading on a trip up to Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas. Cape Trib is a little bit north of Cairns across the Daintree river and is known as the place 'Where the Rainforest Meets the sea'. The scenery was gorgeous and the hostel was nice. During the 3 days i was there i went jungle surfing, went out on the reef for a day(swam with sharks, turtles and rays) and watched the sunrise over the ocean from the beach. I spent the evenings on the beach around fires with loads of people from the hostel. very good 3 nights.
On the journey from Cape Trib down to Port Douglas we stoped at some great lookout spots and at Mossman Gorge were we could swim in the water. Port Dougie was a really nice place to realx and we had the Best hostel EVER! the Tv room was amazing and the hostel was almost empty so we pretty much had free reign. Four mile beach was too hot to handle and the water was almost too hot too. There was an Ice cream shop with 43 different flavours, didnt quite get to try them all. Four nights were enough there so i headed back to Cairns for 3 nights before flying to Alice Springs. I saw James Bond in Cairns with some people I met and also went to The Woolshed nightclub two more times. Martin and his two freinds arrived in Cairns on my last day so i dragged them out however jetlagged they were to the Woolshed for my last night out in Cairns and their first night in Oz. It was a goood night but led to me missing my airport transfer the morning after. All was ok since i had plenty of time to get a taxi, just a bummer i had to pay extra.
My flight to Alice Springs was fine until we hit really bad turbulence, which made me feel even worse than i was before.
