Maddy's real 5th b'day at Cooinda Kakadu (9th July)
Had a great relaxed day today for Maddy's b'day. Riley spent the day with us again which was great. We made carrot cake with cream cheese icing and fresh bread rolls for lunch. We went to the swimming pool twice and the boys were having a ball doing somersaults off the edge of the pool. The signs said 'no diving' but I figured somersaulting isn't head first so that's O.K. Another mother saw her son copying the boys and told him off promptly and then glared at me, but I continued to let the boys be boys. They then held hands with Ash as well and all ran and jumped in together. It was nice that Riley said "come on, let's do it with the whole family". The cheeky devils that they all are, on occasion, they would run and one would stop and let the others all jump in and then do a dance as they had tricked the others. Riley was also running around doing a Harry high pants impression which amused the other families. Maddy made his bumblebee transformer Lego that he got in the morning and then the three boys enjoyed playing with this and the other Lego. They watched treasure planet in the afternoon and then made pirate ships from the Lego afterwards. Riley, our little tour guide, then took us down to the water front and boardwalk at Home Billabong. What a great place. Cooinda, luckily sprays for the mozzies to keep them under control so we feel good and relaxed here. After our second swim we bought the kids 2 bowls of chips, as we had already eaten, to have one last special thing to end Maddy's b'day for another year. I did a lot of reflection today about his birth and all the things that happened around that time and how lucky we are to have our gorgeous little boy, not to mention our whole precious family. Must get to sleep as we are going out with Sean, Riley and Patsy tomorrow on the actual bush tucker tour. Can't wait. I think this will be the highlight of the Kakadu trip.
