Well i have been busy already and it is non stop from here!
Instead of the the zoo the other day we ended up spending 3 hours in a travel place and booked the whole of australia! woo. So 6 weeks of not worrying what to do i cannot wait. We have diving, tours, sight seeing, walks, whitsundays, fraser isalnd it is all so exciting. After that we did lots of exploring and made a visit to the aquarium i have never seen marine life so big....the stingrays were the size of a paddling pool! Unfortunately the day we had planned for surfing got cancelled as it was bad weather (the fingers should still be crossed by the way as we still have cloud following us!). However we met up with Phil and Cathy (Toya's friend) and had a lovely day exploring the city and then the most amazing meal at teh meat and wine company....i ate the best steak i have had in my life yummmm. So after being well fed and watered we went back to our next hostel (Base) this is cool but we had a very interesting roomate...a right snob if u ask me...who was frankly very rude and luckily has now moved rooms. Turns out she was on Australia's next top model...which explains a lot...now she is working in french connection and living in a hostel ha ha ha ha is all i can say.
Next day we had sun...yipee! so we met up with phil and cathy and they drove us (in the lexus...luxury) to a beach an hour or so south of Sydney. Here the four of us had a private surf lesson on a deserted beach. It ws sooo much fun. I thought i would hate it (especially with the old fear of getting stuck under water and breating sea water) but i surprised myself. I managed to stand up within 45minutes!! It was very tiring asthe tide was really powerful and you spen a lot of time wading out to catch waves...but great fun. The only downer was my half our of injury...after standing on a rock/getting nipped by a crab (which... i still don't know) and then ripping the skin off my knee i came out of the sea for a breather and to assess the blood. I then stood on a bee!!!! Now being in Australia most would be worried about sharks and jellyfish....but no....i stand on a bee. The sting was horrible but after removing the actual stinger and 10 minutes of pain it went away. So nice and ruffed up i went back for some more waves and hopefully (on another camera) there is proof of me standing on a board wooopie!
I had just got rid of too scrapes after a fall in Thailand so i think i may come back looking like a ruffed up school boy at the rate of things hehe. Ah well.
So today meant zoo trip. After a informative ferry ride we spent the day at Taronga which was huge and i finally saw a platapus (they are soooo weird) and kangaroo. It filled the whole day. We flet a bit silly though as it looked sunny at 9 and we went out in shorts. most peopel had trousers and it rained later. but like good tourists we braved it all day and despite the clouds i still got burnt!!
It is party night at the hostel bar tonight so off there soon and then tomorrow we fly to Melbourne. New city, new adventures, new fun.
Speak to you soon xxx
